Your gear’s been through hell — now it’s time to clean it like a good pledge.

Wash by hand.

No twisting, no scrubbing. Just a firm yet gentle rub-down with your hands to rinse away the sin. Avoid submerging reinforced pieces like harnesses, collars or belts that contain metal. Wipe down with a damp cloth instead to avoid rusting.

Dry it right.

No sun or heat. Give your latex time to air dry somewhere away from direct sunlight. Turn it inside out to let it breathe halfway through drying.

If a watermark appears - do not panic. These are especially common on lighter areas of rubber, but are common side effects of drying. Any water marks are temporary as long as you let the rubber continue to dry.

Damp pockets can lead to mildew, so pay attention to your rubber while putting it away.

No oil. Ever.

That includes Crisco and baby oil. Oil will attack and break down your latex. Instead we recommend you use silicone-based lubes or talcum powder to get into your rubber.

Storage.

Store your rubber somewhere dark and cool. Direct sunlight and temperature extremes will degrade your rubber. Your rubber can be stored flat or hung up, just ensure to avoid contact with metals and oils. Dusting with talcum powder before storage will help avoid sticking.
